Ensuring the Brand To Sales journey and methodology is an intrinsic part of the Octopede DNA
We recognise our business is our people. That’s why we take Octopedes’ learning and development very seriously, investing in versatile learning methods to suit all levels, specialisms and career aspirations, and offering over 70 hours of training per year as a minimum. Included in that is an individual training fund to be used on any experience that will help an Octopede achieve their personal development plan – from art gallery visits to classroom workshops. There’s also lunchtime Share the Knowledge sessions, hosted by clients and industry experts, Campaign of the Quarter, and a mentoring scheme, to name but a few.
As of this month, though, there will now be one common thread forming the centrepiece of our approach to learning & development for the agency – and that is (drum roll, please!)…our Brand to Sales (B2S) Academy. Our aim is to bring everyone in the business, irrespective of their role or experience, on the same learning journey towards being fully versed, comfortable and skilled in all eight of the services we offer.
Much like a diploma or university course, the B2S Academy is a curriculum designed to upskill everyone in the business on the latest digital marketing, media relations and consultancy techniques. Octopedes can pick from 14 available modules, which can be aligned to development plans or based purely on their interests, regardless of their day-to-day role, with all helping to develop their B2S knowledge.
The Academy is made up of a combination of internally-led sessions by area specialists and client-focused sessions run by our founders, along with input from our clients. On top of that there’s the Digital Ninja series, comprising of five online modules that give Octopedes the chance to earn Google Certified qualifications and become Google partners to the agency.
We want our staff to be the best version of Octopedes they can be – and investing in their development through industry-recognised qualifications is where that starts. We also value the fact that giving staff the support and time to complete externally-led, certified qualifications is something that will be valuable to them throughout their professional lives – an aspect which can often be overlooked.
The B2S Academy is run like a university course – and yes, that means homework and online/offline training modules and assessments. No Octopede can become officially B2S-certified until they have completed a set number of modules and their end-of-Academy homework, at which point they’ll be rewarded with the coveted B2S Academy badge and certificate – not to mention an awards ceremony!
