Campaign of the Quarter: Bluetooth SIG

In a fast-paced agency environment, there’s always another project to think about – but it’s important to take the time to celebrate our creativity and hard work, too. One of the ways Octopus Group does this is through our Campaign of the Quarter award, which recognises the work that goes on.

The Bluetooth SIG team were delighted to win the Octopus Group internal award for our recent work on Bluetooth’s 20th anniversary EMEA event.

It’s been a few years since the Bluetooth SIG hosted an event for media. Given it was the 20th anniversary of Bluetooth this year, we felt it was time to celebrate. We suggested an intimate event, bringing together members of the Bluetooth community and key media.

But this wouldn’t just be a birthday bash highlighting everything Bluetooth has achieved. We wanted the event to focus on the future markets Bluetooth has pioneered, such as smart buildings. This is a huge growth area and something we knew Bluetooth SIG should be shouting about.

For example, advancements in Bluetooth broadcasting means the way we inhabit our buildings will change, as this extraordinary technology increases productivity, optimises space and enhances the visitor experience.

That’s why we chose ‘The Future is Blue’ as our strapline for the event. The Bluetooth icon is instantly recognisable, but we knew how important it was to emphasise the Bluetooth SIG’s exciting plans for the future.

The day kicked off at 8.30am on a Monday during London Tech Week – we wanted Bluetooth to be the first thing on everyone’s agenda for the week. We selected The National Portrait Gallery because as a space, it blends history with forward-thinking creativity, so this aligned well with our objectives.

We secured six Bluetooth SIG members to exhibit, and nine key journalists from across the electronics, smart building and tech press were in attendance.

This campaign was a prime example of our Brand to Sales ethos, which is brought to life through interlinked marketing services like brand engagement, design and video. In addition to planning and executing the day, Octopus Group designed and produced everything from the full event build, invitations, event collateral, goodie bags and even delicious cupcakes!

OG’s video team were also in attendance onsite to film Bluetooth SIG members as part of the Bluetooth SIG’s 20th anniversary series. More and more, our clients are turning to video as a medium for getting their message across, so this was a clear opportunity to capture some great content.

We’ll be celebrating our win with a team lunch – a welcome reward for our hard work on this campaign.
