Senior Copywriter

The Opportunity

We are looking for a content specialist responsible for creating, adapting and executing the voice of a brand across all their touch points. They will work collaboratively with our Brand Engagement teams to ensure all communications tell a story that engages audiences, and generates awareness in line with the client’s objectives. They will solve communications challenges and develop original copy-based solutions across a number of platforms, including long-form written copy, video, web, email and direct mail. As well as being good with taglines and short copy, the Senior Copywriter is a proficient long-form writer, able to turn their hand to eBooks, bylines, scripts, research reports, web copy and white papers.

Key Responsibilities 

 Technical Delivery

  • Play an active role in collaborative creative briefing with clients and Brand Engagement colleagues
  • Create stories, narratives and concepts for various content formats
  • Manage the creative process for a piece of content, from concept or synopsis, through to drafting and design (working with the design team)
  • Write and edit content, in accordance with the needs of the Head of Copy, Account and Client Directors
  • Create content that helps to further establish clients as thought leaders in their key
    industry areas
  • Work with the wider Creative team to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style
  • Work with Brand Engagement teams to understand business objectives and audience demographics for clients
  • Play an active role in developing campaign concepts
  • Work with the wider agency to provide training and editorial guidance and direction
  • Manage ongoing retainer work, such as blogs and case studies
  • Check concepts against the creative brief to ensure they meet strategic goals and objectives
  • Ensure the quality, craft and implementation of all work done on projects
  • Ensure innovation is a common thread in delivery of all client projects
  • Focus on client satisfaction across all touch points to ensure a consistent and positive experience with Octopus Group

Financials

  • Be commercially aware: at all times stay abreast of the financial status of the projects and keep the Head of Copy and Account Directors up-to-date with any changes
  • Be commercially aware and seek out ways to make the team more cost effective
  • Keep on top of timesheets, communicating with the Head of Copy if a project is at risk of going over budget

Sales and Marketing

  • Work with the Head of Copy and Creative Director to identify opportunities to promote Octopus Group’s integrated services where appropriate
  • Influence Octopus Group’s Brand to Sales proposition and service offering to identify upsell opportunities
  • Contribute to pitches and new business projects
