Senior Copywriter

We’re looking for a talented Senior Copywriter or Content Writer to join our Creative team. This role would suit an experienced long-form writer, with a background in either copywriting or journalism. As Senior Copywriter you will be responsible for writing content that acts as the voice of a brand across all their channels. To do this you will work collaboratively with clients and internal colleagues to create stories that engage audiences and generate awareness. It’s important that you are a natural creative thinker and self-starter, with great attention to detail, and the ability to write for a variety of platforms, for a number of clients. As well as being good with taglines and short copy, you will be a proficient long-form writer, able to turn your hand to eBooks, bylines, scripts, research reports, web copy, blogs and white papers. This role reports into the Head of Copy and the Creative Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Play an active role in collaborative creative briefing with clients and Brand Engagement colleagues
  • Create stories, narratives and concepts for various content formats
  • Manage the creative process for a piece of content, from concept or synopsis, through to drafting and design (working with our design team)
  • Write and edit content, in accordance with the needs of the Head of Copy, Account and Client Directors
  • Create content that helps to further establish clients as thought leaders in their key industry areas
  • Work with the wider Creative team to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style
  • Work with Brand Engagement teams to understand client business objectives and audience demographics
  • Play an active role in developing campaign concepts
  • Work with the wider agency to provide training and editorial guidance and direction
  • Create great campaign concepts and take responsibility for all copy involved
  • Check concepts against the creative brief to ensure they meet strategic goals and objectives
  • Ensure the quality, craft and implementation of all work done on projects
  • Focus on client satisfaction across all touch points to ensure a consistent and positive experience with Octopus Group

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years experience in a relevant role, either for an agency, or as a journalist/writer
  • Demonstrable experience in producing high quality, long-form copy
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects
  • An interest in technology
  • A flair for storytelling, and for bringing difficult topics to life
  • Attention to detail
